Episode 470 – Pride Month Celebrations Continue Nationwide!

This week on Gay Talk 2.0, the crew is back and already off the rails — recording on a Tuesday, celebrating Pride Month, and apparently broadcasting live from the walk-in with antibiotics, poor decisions, and absolutely no adult supervision.

Jay returns from Puerto Rico with a tan, stories from Pride in San Juan, and some brand-new body art that sends the table into full chaos. From cultural tattoos to a very NSFW ink adventure, the crew dives into the kind of vacation recap that starts with “how was Pride?” and somehow ends with everybody needing HR, a fan, and maybe a cold compress.

The Puerto Rico Pride conversation brings all the heat — literally. The crew talks drag performances in Spanish, Caribbean sweat, beach-to-party energy, nightlife, drink prices, Pride crowds, and the difference between celebrating in San Juan versus the southwest side of the island. Spoiler: Puerto Ricans will celebrate anything, and honestly? Correct.

Trish checks in from Gala Week, which is giving full nonprofit wedding planner with a donor spreadsheet and a floral vendetta. There’s Harry Styles auction ticket excitement, Les Mis love, a sweet listener encounter, fundraising wins, centerpiece drama, and the eternal truth that sometimes you just have to walk into a business and ask for money.

Tom gives his weekend recap, which is basically: coding, yelling at AI, and letting Alfred and Lucius fight it out like two digital queens in a group chat. From there, the crew jumps into Pride calendars, Chicago memories, the “is a lake beach really a beach?” debate, and a wildly random LA Pride email involving electric bikes, tiny trucks, and the possibility of arriving to Pride like a rainbow rickshaw circus.

Then things get serious — because Pride Month is also political. The crew digs into LGBTQ-hostile states, anti-trans legislation, the widening gap between affirming and hostile states, federal attacks on DEI, court rulings, the Supreme Court, voting, and why paying attention to where your money and support go matters now more than ever.

The episode wraps with political side quests, campaign shoutouts, Mama Kim’s Minute, Madonna’s Pride/Grindr moment, an On This Day in Gay History remembrance tied to the AIDS epidemic, and the usual reminder to subscribe, support, follow, contact the show, and keep the Pride Month energy going — preferably with fewer questionable text messages and more hydration.
