GayTalk 2.0 – Episode 390 – ANKRBOY, with Award Winning Actor & Author Mark Pettit!

On the first half of today’s show the boys talk about the attempted assignation on former “not my president” Trump. They then jump into a quick round table, Nick talks about family matters and Jae talks about his 50th Birthday.

After the break, we welcome Mark Pettit, actor and author of ANKRBOY, a memoir of Mark’s experience navigating the world of local news as a young closeted gay man amidst the AIDS/HIV crisis.

Mark, at 22 in 1985, was a promising anchorman receiving three Emmy® awards for his investigative journalism and wrote a best-selling book – all to lose his career in the early ‘90s when it was revealed Mark was a gay man.

Outed and fired from his lead anchor position, Mark spiraled and it wasn’t until a near-death experience that he was able to share his authentic self – now with a successful marketing firm and acting career –over 30 TV and movie appearances as a news anchor (True Detective, Mindhunter, Mr. Mercedes, They Cloned Tyrone, Reptile, etc.) he’s Hollywood’s ‘Go-To’ News Anchor.

He chronicles this story in his newly released book, ANKRBOY, as a closeted TV news anchorman trying to find his way during the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. (EXCERPT featured on QUEERTY.com)
