LGBTQ Icon, Melissa Etheridge announced Wednesday afternoon that her 21 year old son, Beckett Cypher had died via twitter. It was initially unclear as to the circumstances of his death.
Later in the evening, her camp tweeted again and announced the cause of death. Her son Beckett was suffering with Opioid addiction, and succumbed to it. It still remains unclear what substance(s) caused young Cypher’s death. In the tweet she wrote…
“Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction,” the singer-songwriter wrote in a statement posted on Twitter. “My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends.”
Melissa has long been a person we’ve come to admire on the show and we want to express our condolences to her and her entire family during this difficult time.
