SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico. – The Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló has resigned effective August 2nd after two long weeks of protest. his resignation comes after 800 plus pages of text attacking opposition leaders, The LGBT community and victims of hurricane Maria were published.
He resigned via a live stream online. Protesters erupted in celebration as he uttered the words “for this reason, I resign”… People cheered outside La Fortaleza, the governor’s official residence.
In the true Puertorican spirit, tomorrow will be a day of celebrations on a victorious effort to oust the Governor amid the scandal that seen the resignation of two of his top cabinet officials just days before.
CFO, Christian Sobribo and the Secretary of State, Luis G. Rivera Marín both resigned leaving in question who’s next in succession to be Governor which under the commonwealth’s Constitution, points to the Secretary of Justice, Wanda Vázquez.
